ERA provided process evaluation, design and implementation services for remedial actions to renovate contaminated groundwater beneath an uncontrolled, hazardous waste landfill. ERA conducted groundwater monitoring, and groundwater treatability studies to remove solvents, heavy metals and organic compounds. Bench and pilot scale tests were performed to evaluate state-of-the-art treatment technologies. Subsequently, ERA designed a mobile trailer-mounted treatment plant for the withdrawal, treatment and injection of the groundwater. Later, ERA assessed the feasibility of various other remedial actions for soil and groundwater contamination. Mathematical models for groundwater cleanup were developed, source strengths determined, and costs estimated as required by the USEPA.
