Pretreatment System for Forklift Truck Washing Operation
A major merchandiser maintained a large warehouse for distribution throughout the New England area. The facility washed electrically powered forklift trucks in a parking lot, allowing wastewater to flow into a wetland. Lead from battery acid caused the wetland to become contaminated, resulting in a violation order. A pretreatment system was needed for discharge to the municipal sewer. ERA conducted a wastewater characterization study followed by laboratory and on-site pilot testing to confirm the selection and performance of the treatment method. ERA provided equipment plans and specifications, installation observation, startup and technical support services.
